THEart of recycling is one of the issues dearest to consumers who prefer glass as a material for product packaging. But this expression is functional to the recognition of an artistic technique that makes the valorisation of waste elements his own stylistic signature.
An example of the art of recycling is the work "Chimera", by the Venetian artist Maurice Molin, exhibited starting from 12 July 2023 at the Marco Polo airport in Venice.
The identikit of the Chimera
The presence of the "Chimera", i.e. of Leo Marciano, favors an immediate reference to the identity of Venice, as a centuries-old emblem of the city and its ancient Republic. A doubly symbolic choice, because it is accompanied by a particularly representative material element. The glass it is in fact the artistic product and craftsmanship that distinguishes and elevates Venice in the world.
A Venetian story
The "Chimera", which welcomes passengers in transit along the elevated pedestrian walkway between the terminal and the dock of the Venetian airport, will constitute an important visual reference thanks also to the expressive power of the sculptural work, enhanced by the irregularity of the glass fragments.
The work, with which Maurizio Molin paid homage to Marco Polo and the SAVE holding, is part of the ReGLASS project for the reuse of the glass inventories of the work processes carried out in the Murano furnaces. The reference to the art of glass masters is therefore more alive than ever in the encounter between tradition and modernity, between sustainability and beauty, between art and design.
