INTEGRATED SYSTEMS FOR COATED GLASSES
The Automotive and Architectural sectors are increasingly oriented towards the use of low-emissivity glass, i.e. float glass treated with a coating that filters IR radiation, in such a way as to reduce the need for air conditioning.
Typically the coating is not compatible with screen printing, and is also very delicate.
Consequently, if the coating is on the same face as the screen printing, it is necessary to remove the coating from the areas affected by the screen printing with an upstream process, while the printing will take place as usual.
If, on the other hand, the coating is on the opposite side to the screen printing, the process is simplified upstream but is more complicated in printing because the coating does not resist centering actions. It is therefore necessary to move the glass with the coating facing upwards until it is centered, to then be turned over on the shuttle that carries it on the printing table.
PRINTING SYSTEM FOR COUPLED GLASSES
The production of laminated glass requires particular attention for the management of inner / outer laminated glass. These glasses can be bent separately through the “press-bending” technique and subsequently coupled, or they can be folded already coupled through the “gravity” technique.
In the latter case, the coupling takes place either immediately before the bending oven, or immediately after the glass washing, before printing. This last solution, adopted to reduce contamination, requires a more complex line since the veil of talcum powder that is applied between the two glasses makes them decidedly free to slide one over the other.
All handling must therefore be designed with particularly soft accelerations and braking to avoid decoupling the glass, and the screen printing machine must be designed to be able to center the inner / outer pair directly on the printing surface.
The machines suitable for this type of processing are both those belonging to the J series with belt transport, and the GB series with mixed transport with belts and translator.
PRINTING SYSTEM FOR LAMINATED SIDE GLASSES
The lines that process the side windows of cars require rather high cycle times and technologies capable of handling very complex glass, that is highly asymmetrical and shaped. CUGHER GLASS S.r.l. has always produced screen printing machines capable of managing this complexity, processing glass with very low thicknesses and asymmetrical shapes.
