CoReVe reminds citizens of the correct methods of collecting glass packaging waste.
In 2020, the quality of the separate glass collection carried out by citizens has worsened compared to 2019 and we are still very far from the average levels of the rest of Europe.
There are still too many objects of ceramic, pyrex and crystal, but above all of bags that end up in the glass bell. In fact, 10,5% of glass packaging waste (bottles and jars) recovered inside the bells or in the “door to door” bins cannot be recycled due to the presence of these pollutants.
To try to stop the wrong behaviors that end up compromising part of the work and commitment of the most attentive citizens, CoReVe (Consorzio Recupero Vetro), in agreement with ANCI (Association of Italian Municipalities), has decided to launch an awareness campaign , with the patronage of the MiTe (Ministry for Ecological Transition) and with the help of Licia Colò, journalist and popularizer, who has always been very attentive to environmental issues and sustainability.
Two months of TV campaign that began last April 26, and which will see Licia Colò tell viewers, what are the mistakes to avoid when sorting glass packaging waste, to which, from June to the end each year, a "social" campaign will be added to tell Italians about the importance and environmental benefits deriving from the correct recycling of glass.
CoReVe is the non-profit Consortium responsible for achieving the recycling and recovery objectives of glass packaging waste produced on the national territory. Established by the main Italian glassmaking groups on 23 October 1997 in compliance with Legislative Decree 22/97, it guarantees the collection and recycling of glass packaging waste from national separate collection, prepares guidelines for prevention activities and promotes communication to increase recycling results. A dynamic organization whose objectives are the constant search for new solutions aimed at improving and optimizing the environmental sustainability of glass packaging intended for consumption.
