Why does water in glass bottles taste better?

It is likely that you have noticed: water and, more generally, drinks bottled in glass have a different taste than those packaged in plastic. Do you want to understand why? This is explained to us by Arno Steguweit, a professional water taster, interviewed by Öko-test.

The German sommelier denies that this is a commonplace: glass water actually tastes fresher and clearer. This occurs because plastic bottles are not 100% leak-proof and therefore end up absorbing odors from the environment.
For this reason, the taste of the drink in plastic can change, while the one in the glass remains unchanged compared to the period before bottling.

    Microplastics in water

    - studies commissioned by Öko-test they also detected the presence of microplastic parts in the water stored in PET bottles. In particular, 27 of the 61 plastic bottles analyzed contained antimony particles, used for the production of PET plastic. A result close to 44% which raises alarms, since the effects on health of microplastics contained in drinks (but also in food) are not yet fully understood.

Buy water in glass (especially if in security deposit) therefore represents a weighted choice for three different but equally valid reasons: environmental sustainability, the quality of the drink e consumer health

The position of the80% of European consumers, who see glass as the sustainable and safe packaging of the future.
