    Technological innovations applied to ampoules production

    OCMI-OTG Spa., a world leader in the supply of complete lines for the production of containers for cosmetic and pharmaceutical use starting from borosilicate glass tube, introduces a completely renewed line for the production of vials, characterized by maximum automation, integrated function control and simplicity adjustment with a consequent evident reduction in job change times.
    The rotary molding machine for vials model MM30 produced in the plants of Madrid (Kyp Accesorios) and Chelles (Moderne Mecanique) is now available with a separate control panel complete with touch screen for controlling all the machine functions such as tube loading, regulation of the rotation speed of the machine and grippers, cam setting, dimensional control via camera.
    The touch panel software can be upgraded by adding autoloader control in case this auxiliary device is installed.
    The operator can select the stations to load during the machine setting phase to start the production of a new vial or exclude some stations from the load in case they need maintenance.
    The alarms deriving from failures can be directly displayed on the screen and the operator has the possibility to activate the Hold Cycle function in case he has to lift the pipes above the loading stations to carry out maintenance operations.
    The finishing line has been equipped with a new family of motors and servo-motors with drives controlled by the same PLC. The motor parameters are adjustable via the single integrated panel. These new motors guarantee greater efficiency and are built in compliance with current environmental regulations.
    One of the key features of the renewed OCMI vial line consists in the possibility of centralizing the control of the various functions. Through a single integrated panel, the operator can manage all the operations relating to color rings, OPC, screen printing, cutting for Form B and closure for Form D (if present).
    The control software, available in various languages, also offers the possibility of remote viewing of the same screens on mobile devices such as mobile phones and tablets.
    Parameterizations can be saved and recalled when needed for future production batches.
    The electronic control can also be extended to the vial lifting devices in the different stations, which are controlled by parameterisable cams.
    Obviously the statistics on production and work shifts can be collected in files that can be downloaded from the panel.
    The improvements made to the new vial production line recently developed by OCMI in the Spanish factory of Kyp Accesorios make it possible to reduce job change times and minimize manual procedures in each station and, consequently, to increase daily productivity.
