Satinal manufacturing expansion with a new EVA film production line in Italy

Satinal announced the introduction of a third production line at its Erba, Italy facility to meet growing consumer demand. A €3 million investment driven by a confluence of factors, including growing global demands from both the high-end architectural market for its STRATO® EVA product line – interlayers for laminating safety glass – and the photovoltaic segment for its STRATO® Solar PV encapsulants range.

According to Marco Bresciani, Director of the STRATO® Business Unit: “Since 2017 we have been learning the craft of extruding interlayers for safety glass; from 2025 we will start to enjoy and enjoy the vast experience accumulated with hard work in this sector. The implementation of a third production line will significantly increase production capacity, allowing the company to better meet customer needs, increasing the range of products and colors, stock levels and streamlining production processes, further reducing production costs. This important step forward is evidence of the strong market demand for our premium Made in Italy products. The rapid growth in demand shows that consumers are increasingly looking for high-quality goods. Over the years, Satinal has consolidated relationships with international chemical companies for the supply of the highest quality raw materials, allowing Satinal to strengthen its market presence and improve the quality of its finished products. Satinal is committed to meeting this growing demand by maintaining uncompromising quality standards and delivery times".

Satinal’s long-term investment is aimed at ensuring faster and more reliable delivery times globally for STRATO® products, ranging from STRATO® EVA to STRATO® STRUCTURAL to STRATO® SOLAR PV Encapsulants. In addition, with this major investment Satinal is preparing to accelerate its growth in the architecture and solar energy sectors.

Satinal’s commitment to sustainability is embedded in every aspect of the company. By using renewable energy sources, optimizing the supply chain and adopting innovative manufacturing techniques, the company has achieved a significant reduction in its carbon footprint. For example, Satinal’s manufacturing facility is powered by 100% renewable energy (a mix of hydroelectric and photovoltaic energy), reducing its dependence on fossil fuels. Additionally, Satinal has implemented a comprehensive waste reduction program over the years. These achievements not only benefit the environment, but also strengthen the reputation of the Satinal brand and contribute to a more sustainable future for generations to come.

The new production line will be installed in December 2024 and will be operational in the first quarter of 2025.

In early 2025, Satinal will implement a gradual increase in production at its plant. Each production line will have a production capacity of 2.000 tons per year, equivalent to over 6 million square meters of glass interlayer per year, per line. The increase in Satinal's production is therefore aimed at better positioning the company to meet the challenges of a rapidly evolving global market with new sustainable products.

In a strategic move to improve product quality, Satinal will also invest in growing its R&D and technical support department from 2025 onwards to keep pace with increased production. The company aims to equip its R&D lab with cutting-edge technology for complete quality control.
