From now on, medium-low range smartphones will be equipped with an invincible ally. Corning, a leading company in the production of glass for displays, recently presented Gorilla Glass 7i: a super resistant glass that combines innovation and economy.
The medium-low range of mobile phones is one of the most requested by consumers because it guarantees multiple advantages, including an accessible price, adequate performance for most of the functions required of a smartphone (web browsing, social media, email, calls, camera, GPS, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi), decent battery life and an attractive design, with a variety of colors and finishes to choose from.
- smartphone an entry level they therefore represent a smart option for those looking for a convenient, functional and reliable device. And this last feature is promoted by Gorilla Glass 7i. The code reveals a lot about the product: a seventh generation glass, described as “an industry-leading innovation for intermediate devices”.
The properties of Gorilla Glass 7i
From tests carried out in the laboratory, Gorilla Glass 7i has proven to be able to resist falls from a height of one meter onto surfaces equivalent to asphalt, a remarkable result if we take into account that similar products for medium-low range smartphones do not guarantee a fall in safety for heights less than or equal to half a meter. Plus, Gorilla Glass 7i is twice as scratch-resistant as competing glass and doesn't fail to look like one sustainable solution, suitable to satisfy the characteristics required by a mass market.
The first company to adopt this glass for its phones will be Oppo, the Chinese consumer electronics giant, but the specific model on which it will be installed has not yet been presented.
With Gorilla Glass 7i Corning isn't just targeting smartphones. This glass could in fact also find application on other devices with small screens, such as smartwatches.
