The idea of the Glass Nails was developed by Sojin Oh, nail artist born and raised in South Korea, but settled in Los Angeles to pursue her dream in fashion, soon diverted to luxury cosmetics and manicures.
The desire to investigate and explore the power and grace of the hands guided Sojin Oh towards experimenting with new artistic opportunities, also mediated by ancient traditions and techniques, which involved the mixing of a variety of material elements (gelatin, gold, egg whites, beeswax, dyes, petals).
A watershed material
Sojin Oh's work is strongly inspired by nature, through the creation of small sculptures embellished with organic objects, but not only. The turning point for his creativity and his productions occurred with the introduction of the "Sea glass", broken bottles transformed, by the lapping of the waves, into refined tiles of Coloured glass. From this first fascination, a path was born that led her to design different Glass Nails with a stunning style, thanks above all to the collaboration with the glass blower Grace Wardlaw.
The sensuality of entropy
Really molded on the fingertips artistic creations, in a play of transparency and brightness that leaves you captivated. The plasticity of the glass in fact allows you to dare, modeling, bending and deforming at will. The artist thus creates spirals, flowers and small creatures with a mannerist appearance, which at the same time communicate fragility and sensuality, entropy and precision.
Star nails
Sojin Oh's surreal Glass Nails, supported by a gel that promotes durability, adorn the ends of the hands of some of the most iconic, whimsical and 'alien' artists of contemporary pop culture, from Billie Eilish to Lil Nas X, up to Grimes, who wore dagger-shaped nails in the futuristic video for the single "Shinigami Eyes".

The world of fashion therefore approves Glass Nails as a trend for summer 2022, embracing the different variants: from warm colors to emulate incandescent lava to marbled effects, passing through three-dimensional collages to recall the marine universe.
The added value is certainly not comfort, but glass nails must be interpreted as a real jewel, precious due to its uniqueness, extravagance and unrepeatability.
