The diary of the first two days of The Italian Glass Weeks

TheItalian Glass Weeks has now come to life, involving the city of Milan with unmissable and varied events: from conferences to exhibitions, from workshops for young people and adults to installations, from guided visits to museums and tours through the city to recreational and educational activities, passing through events exclusive and breathtaking locations.

Let's try today to talk about these first two dates of The Italian Glass Weeksa Milan, through the support of the summary films of each day.

    Saturday 10rd September

The early afternoon of The Italian Glass Weeks opened at one of the reference venues for the Milanese week: theInfo Point, located at the showroom Viesse Auto. Here was held the inauguration of the Glass Art Gallery exhibition, which houses a series of surprising works by Italian and foreign designers. And from this location the first of the four itineraries of "The Milan of glass", promoted by the Foundation of the Order of Architects of Milan. During these tours, the buildings that, in modern and contemporary Milan, express a refined use of glass are presented.

During the afternoon, the group moved to the Milan Showroom: Tricolore Design Hub, where you can visit an exhibition with a selection of furnishings and accessories made by Tonelli Design, Blueside Emotional Design, with the participation of Pieces of Venice and the background of a video by Nicola Donà.

The tour continued towards Castello Sforzesco, for a guided tour of the museum, and towards via dei Mercanti for the ribbon cutting of the "Monster of the lagoon", already beloved protagonist of the past edition of Vision Milan Glass Week.

In the evening, the inaugural event was an opportunity to seal the opening of the event in one of the places of reference for The Italian Glass Weeks: the Milan Hub - Giurisconsult Palace. Finally, the celebratory institutional dinner at the Galleria dei Passi Perduti and the inaugural evening in the splendid setting of the Santambrogio Terrace.

    Sunday September 11th

The morning started with the "Venetian pearl hunt": an exciting treasure hunt, organized by the Committee for the Safeguarding of the Art of Venetian Glass Pearls (CPVV) and Yop Comunicazione, which unfolded from Piazza del Duomo to the Brera district, with a multisensory stop at the wonderful boutique from The Merchant of Venice - the Venetian Perfuming Art.

The review then continued "The ways of glass", designed by the AIHV Italian National Committee, at ADI Design Museum-Compasso d'Oro, to discover the quality of Made in Italy design.

In the afternoon the spotlights shone:

    • the iconic Home Wear collections in glass and crystal signed by Luisa Beccaria, in the brand's exclusive fashion and lifestyle flagship store in Brera.
    • Some of the historical works Memphis, such as the Carlton by Ettore Sottsass, and an installation of Murano Memphis glass, specially designed for The Italian Glass Weeks.

In the evening, the Venetian teachers of the CPVV Committee held the workshop "The game of Venetian pearls". A playful activity designed to bring young people closer to the Art of Glass Pearls, practiced in Venice since 1338. Children, playing with the shapes and colors of pearls, have created a unique jewel to be kept as a memory of the experience.

The day then ended at the showroom Pliny the Younger with an aperitif, organized by Life of Glass, aimed at sharing stories, ideas, inspirations and art.
