CoReVe is the consortium for the recovery of glass (established in 1997) and chaired by Gianni Scotti since 2019.
in 2019 the tons of glass released for consumption in our country amounted to about 2 million and 700 thousand, CoReVe collected 2 million and 350 thousand and allowed the recycling of 2 million and 100 thousand.
In 2020 there was a +2 percent at the end of September (compared to last year) despite the pandemic.
The Consortium is agreement with almost 7.500 municipalities (92% of the Italian total), 20 are the Settlements highly automated present in our country, capable of transforming raw waste into new raw material.
The structures are located: 12 In the north of Italy, 3 in the center and 5 in the south, they are mostly state-of-the-art complexes from which a high quality product comes out.
Such a product it is used by glass factories that give "second raw material" (this is the name of the treated glass to be remelted) has a new life.
This material lends itself in an optimal way to recycling because in the manufacturing processes it does not suffer quality deterioration, when it is remelted, lower temperatures are used, thus resulting in a energy savings and reduced CO2 emissions.
We remind you that glass is considered a permanent material, it will never change its characteristics and is therefore a valid example of circular economy.
Among the main responsible for a good glass collection are the citizens and it is for this reason that it is necessary to have clear and precise rules to follow.
We often use plastic bags when throwing the bottles into the bells that collect glass in our cities.
This is an incorrect behavior, which makes our “being green” useless.
The bottles thus thrown into the bells are considered an opaque body and therefore foreign so those bottles will be discarded and not recycled.
So let's remember that the best way to dispose of the glass is to insert it directly into the bells without any type of wrapping or protection.
Let's remember that ceramic, pyrex and crystal are materials that when mixed with pure glass make it unusable. An optimal collection would be to make a division also by color, because glass is not all the same.
Il our country is one of the virtuous states, attentive to glass recycling, in Europe we are second behind Germany.
For our future there are many aspects on which to improve and work to achieve even more satisfactory and positive results. The Consortium is working for achieve excellent standards and improve the quality of separate waste collection.
We just have to incorporate these small and healthy habits to make our beautiful country even more "green" and eco-sustainable.
