The International Glass Commission (ICG), the Community of Glass Associations (CGA) and ICOM-Glass are promoting 2022 as the United Nations International Year of Glass to highlight its scientific, economic and cultural roles and celebrate several anniversaries. Glass underpins many vital technologies, facilitates sustainability, an environmentally friendly approach and enriches our lives, yet it often goes unnoticed.
This exciting journey began in 2018. International support has come from 1650 universities and research centers, companies and associations, museums, artists, educators, producers and companies in 81 countries across 5 continents. The formal resolution was agreed at the United Nations General Assembly on May 18, 2021.
We have just started the diffusion and coordination of thousands of activities all over the planet: congresses and seminars, industrial fairs and glass schools will coexist with art exhibitions, books, social media, scientific, technical and general interest magazines. Event planning will be based on basic inputs and a network of volunteers; the delegation will be indispensable.
If you have not registered your interest in the initiative, do it on www.iyog2022.org, your participation is very important!
