On the occasion of 'International Year of Glass (IYoG 2022), the Italian AIHV Committee – Association Internationale pour l’Histoire du Verre, has announced a scholarship to support the research activity of a young scholar of medieval glass.
The call
La "Bruno Messiga" scholarship, which recalls and celebrates the figure of Professor Bruno Messiga, Professor of Petrography at the University of Pavia, who passed away in 2019, is aimed at graduates, specialists and young researchers in the field of glass.
The scholarship is aimed at supporting the activity of one scholar, enrolled in the AIHV National Committee, in the course of Research on medieval glass, with reference to the aspects of glass production and focus on scientific investigations on artefacts and contexts of discovery. The eligible activities are related to the execution of archaeometric analyzes for various reasons (purchase of material and various related expenses).
The Commission
The Commission of selection will be composed of the President of the Italian National Committee of the AIHV, who will carry out the functions of President of the Commission and who will be able to make use of the collaboration of the members of the Board of Directors of the Committee itself, and of some members who are experts in the proposed topics.
Regulation and timing
Candidates, at the time of submitting the application, must not be over 35 years of age. The amount of the scholarship is equal to 2.000 euros, net of any withholding taxes, for the proposal deemed most deserving.
The research, to be presented and carried out in Italian, may be in progress or already concluded, but subject to further investigation thanks to the funds covered by the call. They must be completed by the year 2023, at which time candidates must provide a descriptive report of the benefits obtained thanks to the scholarship funds.
The application form must beInstead, sent no later than November 15, 2022, while the projects will be selected by the Commission by December 2022.
